How Our Process Works

A Simple, Supportive Path Designed for Families

Beginning therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re unsure what your child needs or what steps to take next. At Mindfulness Space, we make the process clear, comforting, and collaborative from day one.

Here’s what working with us looks like:

STEP 1: Initial Consultation

Your journey begins with a warm, welcoming conversation.

We discuss your concerns, your child’s current developmental stage, and your goals. This is a chance for you to ask questions, share observations, and learn how developmental therapy can help.

What to expect:

  • A supportive, no-pressure conversation
  • Opportunity to share your child's strengths and challenges
  • Guidance on whether an evaluation or Early Intervention referral is appropriate

STEP 2: Developmental Evaluation

If therapy or Early Intervention support is recommended, we complete a comprehensive assessment to fully understand your child’s developmental needs.

Evaluations may explore:

  • Cognitive skills
  • Communication & interaction
  • Social-emotional development
  • Sensory responses
  • Problem-solving & play skills
  • Daily living abilities

The evaluation helps us create a plan that is individualized, informed, and effective.

STEP 3: Individualized Treatment Plan

After the evaluation, we develop a personalized plan designed specifically for your child. For families enrolled in Early Intervention, this becomes part of your Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Your treatment plan may include:

  • Developmental therapy sessions
  • Parent coaching recommendations
  • Sensory and emotional regulation strategies
  • Goals for communication, play, or daily routines
  • At-home activities to support progress

We review goals regularly and adjust them as your child grows.

STEP 4: Ongoing Therapy & Family Support

Therapy sessions are play-based, relationship-centered, and tailored to your child’s natural learning style. We support children in building the skills they need to thrive. During therapy, families can expect:

  • Warm, engaging sessions that encourage curiosity and confidence
  • Strategies modeled for parents and caregivers
  • Consistent communication about progress
  • Celebrating milestones — big and small

Together, we work to create meaningful, lasting growth.
